Cinematography

The art of making movies in Costa Rica is becoming big business, especially with influences from Hollywood who find Costa Rica as the ideal spot to film movies.

Creating new films written and directed by Costa Rican writers is becoming more and more popular. Cultural institutions are helping struggling directors get their movies produced and shown in local cinemas. Most recently, young people who are in the University have began to see this as a more serious career path.

Due to the competitiveness of the industry many people cannot afford to dedicate their lives or careers to simply cinema. Many local actors look for jobs in other countries where making movies is bigger business.

Directors and actors as famous as Mel Gibson have deemed Costa Rica an ideal lugar to shoot movies due to its diverse settings and natural beauty.
