Venado Caves
An extensive natural cave system south of Arenal, the Venado Caves are a definite must see on your trip to Costa Rica.
The Venado Caves are an extensive underground cave system located only 45 minutes south of Arenal. One can venture inside the caves under the leadership of an experienced guide to view the amazing natural rock formations and cave ecosystem. Stalactites and stalagmites carpet the ceiling and ground of many parts of these caves, some with very recognizable shapes such as the "Lion's Head". This Venado Caves were carved out by an underground river, which still flows in parts of this cave, adding to the mystery and grandeur the cave system.
