Barva

A cute historic town that acts as the gateway to Volcan Barva

Barva is most notable for the Volcano named after it, but the town itself has some notable attributes.  The Museo de Cultura has some interesting exhibits showing the heritage of the colonial era.  Also note the church near the central plaza as it was built in the 18th century.

Most people travel here for the Volcan Barva jetting out of the earth up into the cloudforest.   You must enter through the Parque National Braulio Carillo.  If you choose to hike the volcano, you may see an extensive array of wildlife and flora from Quetzals, to bellbirds to ancient oaks towering above.   This area is dense with rainforest and put you in a whole new world.
