Playa Uvita
Playa Uvita - Puntarenas - Costa Rica. Also referred to as Punta Uvita, and simply Uvita. Uvita is one of the few towns that give off the feel of an old Costa Rican beach town
Perhaps this area has remained untouched due to its inaccessibility. However, as with any growth and popularity of a country, this “old” feel is changing. The completion of a better road, has already affected Dominical, and perhaps Uvita is the next victim.
If you are lucky enough to visit before any major development changes this town, you will be delighted to see how things used to be. Typically a stop off on the way to visting the spectaular beaches of Marina Ballena National Park, Uvita is also the last stop before entering the Osa Penisula.
Some people stop here on the way to Pavones, and if you are lucky, you may catch some waves here. Also, the Jardin de Mariposas is a popular attraction, showing off all types of butterflies. There are plenty of places to stay and eat in town, so feel free to stop over for a night, and you won't be dissappointed.
